Building a council you can depend on
As a Lakeside Ward resident, I’ve worked with locals to develop a plan that will build a council you can depend on
My plan for Port Phillip Council developed with Lakeside locals
Cutting the cost of living
Implementing an emergency rental assistance program: Providing aid to struggling renters to help them maintain their tenancies and offering direct support to those at risk of homelessness.
Protecting council-managed child care centres: Safeguarding them from outsourcing and reducing day care fees.
Offering targeted rates forgiveness: Providing relief for those facing financial hardship due to rising living costs, ensuring that they can continue to afford essential services.
Redefining service standards
Modernising the St Kilda Junction and St Kilda Station tram stops: Improving passenger accessibility and safety to ensure a more comfortable and secure travel experience for all residents.
Keeping aged care services in safe hands: Halting outsourcing to ensure high-quality, reliable care for all community members.
Enhancing street cleaning: Keeping our community pristine by boosting street cleaning efforts and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
Fixing bin collection services: Ending current disruptions by implementing a reliable and efficient waste management system.
Rebuilding the clunky 'My Port Phillip' portal: Making it more accessible and user-friendly to ensure that residents can easily access important information and services.
Reawakening Port Phillip’s spirit
Establishing a St Kilda Road Library and Community Hub: Offering co-working and library services, making it the heart of Lakeside Ward and a central place for community engagement.
Allocating more space for off-leash dog parks: Providing more areas where dogs can run freely.
Piloting a 'Port Phillip Wellness Program': Promoting community connection and mental and physical wellbeing through community exercise classes, fostering a healthier and more connected community.
Reinstating arts funding: Supporting local theatres, galleries, and live music venues to reinvigorate our cultural landscape and celebrate the arts.
Reducing permit fees for sole traders and small businesses: Enabling them to use council spaces for community activities, encouraging local entrepreneurship and vibrant community events.
Future proofing Port Phillip
Expanding car share spaces and electric vehicle charging stations: Providing sustainable transportation options to reduce carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly travel within the community.
Fast-tracking the implementation of the new Port Phillip Urban Forest Strategy: Combating urban heat and mitigating the impacts of climate change by increasing green spaces and tree coverage throughout the area.
Rapidly implementing Port Phillip’s Climate Emergency Action Plan: Including water management practices, emission reduction, sustainable transport, and liveable public spaces.
