The case for action

Hello, I'm Barney, a proud Lakeside resident, and I'm running as your local Labor candidate for Lakeside Ward in the October Port Phillip Council election.

Over the past four years, we’ve seen our community face unprecedented challenges, from COVID, to rising living costs, to the impacts of climate change.

These experiences have shown the need for proactive and decisive leadership, and I'm committed to being that leader for Port Phillip.

With my law qualification in hand, I’ve spent nearly a decade as a workforce advisor, partnering with major organisations in the human services, environment, and health sectors.

This experience has taught me how to cut through organisational red tape, eliminate delays, and deliver what matters.

My council plan, developed in partnership with Lakeside locals, prioritises four key areas:

  1. Cutting the cost of living: Supporting families, singles, and couples across Lakeside.

  2. Redefining service standards: Keeping essential council services safely in local hands and addressing critical underfunding.

  3. Reawakening Port Phillip’s spirit: Establishing new community hubs, creating off-leash dog parks, supporting small businesses, and re-establishing a flourishing arts scene.

  4. Future proofing Port Phillip: Mitigating the impacts of climate change by expanding sustainable transport options and combating urban heat.

From October, with your support, we can transform this vision into a reality.
